#VICTOR VRAN GABEN HOW TO#

I felt that whatever I added to the scene would not supplement my overall meaning and purpose, so I allowed the audience to decide what to do with and how to interpret this cliffhanger ending.Originally posted by Mnementh:The game is constantly resaving your items, XP, completed challenges and quests, unlocked achievements, etc. By the time I reached Penn Station, I had run out of ideas and was not sure in which direction I should take it, so I left it at that. I finished my entire scene of the story while still on the train. Anyone trespassing onto underground subway tracks and into tunnels can expect possible life-threatening danger. Instead, I tried to make the scene similar to that of a haunted house, except in this case, horror was unexpected. I was tempted to include subway surfing in my piece but was not exactly sure how to incorporate that into my two-person story. As I wrote the story, the death of Christopher Serrano, a death-defying photographer known by his 100,000-plus followers on Instagram as due to subway surfing stayed fresh in my mind. And I added an aspect of suspense and mystery to give the piece an interesting twist as well as to show that too much risk-taking and curiosity may not be all that great. I included slang and informal language to try and give insight into “the New Yorker way” of speaking. If not already evident in my story, Kyle is the embodiment of the adrenaline-seeking, adventure-loving urban explorer, whereas Matt is the anxiety-filled, fearful New Yorker. Yet I wanted my piece to be suspenseful and to possibly include an aspect of horror. Risk-taking explorers should be quite familiar with venturing into the underground and illicitly taking pictures of subways and tracks. Being personally very similar to the latter, I combined parts of my own life with those of urban explorers, and I felt the best way to communicate these ideas was to go with a short story. I also wanted to include aspects of New York life, and I ended up using a juxtaposition of the adrenaline-seeking, adventure-loving New Yorker with the anxiety-filled, fearful New Yorker. I realized that I really wanted to write about something related to urban exploration, as I was inspired by the many photographs taken by such explorers.

Surprisingly, as I sat down on the train on my way to La Boheme at the Met Opera, I was hit with a pang of inspiration. I had a bunch of ideas floating around in my head but was unable to put them all together in a coherent piece. Part of me wanted to write a short story, yet the more artistic part of me wanted to draw a detailed picture. When I first started this project, I wasn’t exactly sure where to begin. A shriveled hand with long, sharp fingers grabbed him by the shoulder. “Hah, back my ass! You’re all mine now!!” an evil voice snickered and broke into a devilish laugh. “Nah man, I got a bad feeling about this. In the latter case, we gotta be careful.” “Probably just other explorers around here. Never in his years of urban exploring and adrenaline seeking did he find himself in such an odd situation.

“Err.” Kyle had started to become hesitant. “Yo what the hell! Kyle did you hear that?!?!” “Heh heh heh.” a soft voice whispered, spookily. “Yo what the hell was that?!” Matt exclaimed. “Are you sure about this?” Matt questioned.Īs they entered the tunnel, a tiny figure dashed across the tracks.

Matt slowly followed him onto the subway tracks and into the forbidden area. “Alright,” he breathed at last, reluctantly. Let’s just go, I gotchu fam don’t worry.” “I don’t know man, I just have a bad feeling about this.” “Dude, what’s wrong with you? What could go wrong? We gon’ be alright man. “Why are those people giving us weird looks?” Matt glanced around the station anxiously. We finna take some lit ass flicks tonight.” Disclaimer: The following pictures are not mine.
